Once upon a time, in the kingdom of modgnik, there lived a tribe of special people under the sea. They were the mer-race, mermen and mermaids they are called. The race lived alongside with all the sea creatures. And the race was ruled by a king and his name is Nam. Nam had a daughter, a mermaid by the name of Diamrem.
Now Diamrem was a playful young soul who liked to swim all over the ocean to see new things. One day, she decided to swim further than where she usually swam.
"Today I want to see the land. Dad always stopped me from seeing the land. I wonder what's up there!" Diamrem thought to herself.
And so, she swam near the shore. There on the shore was a man - a prince of the land whose name was Dnal Fo Ecnirp. Dnal was standing at the shore looking out to sea, in deep ponder. No one knows what he is pondering about. He seems to be holding to this weird stick on his hand, pointing towards the sea.
Diamrem saw Dnal and was mesmorised by his look. Deep in her heart, she thought she knew why she wanted to come and see the land. Destiny has brought her to the shore to find her Prince Charming, the guy who will sweep her off her feet... if only she had feet.
Hiding behind the rock, Diamrem began to feel sad. She thought to herself, she will never be able to be together with him. She did not look like the Prince Charming on the shore and she did not have the feet for him to sweep off.
Dejected, Diamrem went back to her room and her sea creatures friends saw that she was unlike her usual self after her exploration.
"Diamrem, what happened?"
"Nothing..."
"Come on, tell us what happened? You are definitely not your usual self!"
"NO! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!"
Furious, Diamrem chased her friends out of the house.
"Diamrem, we don't know what you are sad about! But you can look for Hctiw, the witch of the sea. She should be able to help you!" That was the last words of the friends when they got chased out of the room. The next thing they knew, the shark came and ate them up. This was the end of the friends, as we know it.
